What are we going to Kenya for?

I thought it would be a good time to pause and re-cap what Dana and I have been called to Kenya for. We have felt the call of the Lord for some time now. We have been specifically called to serve the orphans of Kenya by helping out at the Africa Gospel Church Abandonded Baby Centre. We will be assisting in running the Baby Centre.
Dana will be working with the logistics of all the visitors coming to the Baby Centre. She will be the coordinator of all teams and visitors at the Baby Centre.
I will be the Business Developement Coordinator. This means that I will be working on helping the baby centre move towards self-sustainability. I will also will be working with the water business and the farm in getting them working more efficient. We also know that things often change and are prepared to be flexible. We pray for God's leading each day.
We are going to serve the Kenyan people in any way we can. Our God is an awesome God who has a plan for each and every one of us. His plan is for us to go to Kenya. What is His plan for you? Is He calling you to be a part of something beyond yourself, to step out of your comfort zone? Is He calling you to join our team? We have been blessed so richly already by many of you who have joined our prayer team and those who have joined our support team. Thank you so much for your sacrificial giving. We look forward to being an extension of your hands and feet in Kenya. We are praying for wisdom, strength and courage as we navigate through all the various things that need to be completed for us to leave.
Thank you, and Blessings to All!

We are so amazed by God's leading and blessings!  We are seeing some progress with our team building. As of today, this is where we are in our support raising.  We will keep this thermometer updated weekly.

Many people are asking how the sale of our house is progressing?  We spoke to a realator last week so we may possibly be putting it up through them.  We are believing that God is in total control of this and He will guide and direct in His time how our home is sold. We thank you for your continued prayers. At the present moment it is still For Sale by Owner.

We were able to share in our home last evening with some wonderful friends.  We thank God for these opportunities to share what has been laid on our hearts. We are thankful for those of you who have chosen to partner with us in this ministry of helping the orphans and widows of Kenya.

Blessings,

Support Update

We know that many people have been asking where we are at with our support.  We are currently standing at about 20%.  We need to be at 50% before we can move to the next stage in the process which is our training in Colorado.

Thank you to all who have donated so far.  We look forward to a good end-of-the-year.

Season of Change

What a wonderful sermon this morning at NMC in the midst of the "season of change" we are in.  It really touched our hearts and once again went right along with the path our lives are taking right now.

We had great time in small church this morning as Dennis Gaul taught about the wonderful things God is accomplishing through Life Action Ministries.  Always love to hear the amazing stories of Christ touching peoples lives and them engaging in Gods work of spreading the Gospel.

We then headed down to one of the Christmas trees at church and had our class picture taken. Unfortunately not everyone was able to attend class so there are a few missing from the photo.

Such a great church family, so blessed to have them in our lives.

Dana and I began our "Perspectives" course this week.  Lesson one was God is a Missionary God.   It was a fantastic look through the Bible and how God called us from the very beginning, Genesis, to the end, Revelation, to go into all nations and tell the Good News, His Gospel which is meant for all nations and tribes.  We also learned a new phrase from our instructor, "Some will come from every tribe and tongue if only we who know will simply go."  We look forward to "Going" and taking many of you along with us as ministry partners.

This week we will be celebrating a birthday in the family.  Talia turns 18 on Tuesday!  She also is going through finals at Bethel this week so extra prayer is very much appreciated for her.  After that she comes home for 2-1/2 weeks for break.  It will be great to have her at home for awhile!!

Blessings,

Church Families...

Had a great time this morning connecting with people at Cedar Road Missionary Church.  We want to thank them for welcoming us so warmly.  Our friend and co-worker, Robyn Moore, was presenting there and she invited us to join her.  Robyn and Dan both grew up at Cedar Road Church, though they didn't know each other at that time.  They discovered that they had both belonged to the same church family during one of our visits to Kenya.  What a small world!  We thank God for Robyn and that our paths have run into a common place where we all met.  She is a blessing to us and everyone she meets.  Robyn heads back to Kenya on March 11th and would dearly love to have us on the plane with her (we will have to wait and see what God's plan is).

We have been enjoying this holiday season by spending a lot of time with family.  It has been wonderful to spend this time with our kids, parents and extended families.  We are moving forward trusting in the Lord so we believe this will be our last Thanksgiving/Christmas season here for a couple years.  So the extra time together is truly a blessing.

Thank you everyone for your continued prayer support.  It means so much to us to know that we have people that will be prayer warriors for us.  Thank you also for your financial support.  We are closing in on about 20% funded!  God is faithful!

As always thank you for reading!  Have a wonderful week!

Thankful Hearts

We have so many things to be thankful for.  God has blessed this nation in a great way and with that comes a responsibility for us to pass that blessing on to others.  Thanksgiving time brings this into focus like no other time of year.  We pray that you had a wondeful Thanksgiving holiday.  What a great time we had over the Thanksgiving weekend.  Wonderful time with family sharing good times and a lot of laughs.  Especially meaningful knowing that we won't be here next year for the holidays.

We are moving forward and beginning to pack up some of the items in the house preparing for when the Lord opens the door for us to move.

Dana is preparing to begin the "Perspectives" classes next week that WGM asks that we take in preparation for serving on the mission field.  Dan is planning on following in a week or so in beginning his classes.

Things continue to move forward as we raise our support team.  We are so thankful for those that have committed to being prayer warriors for us, and for those that are financially supporting us.

In Him,

Amazing Grace

Today was missions Sunday at church and it was such a blessing to have so many missionaries come and share their passion.  There were also many local ministries represented.

Ryan and Johanna Flemming from The Revolution Church in Gary, IN, and Robyn Moore from Kenya came and shared how God had called them into full-time service in their respective ministries.

We have been able to be with Ryan and Johanna in Gary during The Revolution's Christmas food drop.  How moving it is to see the church leave the building and to partner alongside The Revolution Church and show the love and mercy of Jesus to people by simply telling them that Jesus loves them and handing out food.  Congratulations on 13 years in Gary Ryan and Johanna!

What a special lady Robyn Moore is.  We have been privileged to spend time with her in Kenya on several occasions doing ministry, worshipping and fellowshipping, all of which have been great experiences.  Robyn shared this morning some of  the stories of her ministry, The Least of These, and you can see the passion and compassion that she has for children.  Her dedication is contagious and inspiring.  We look forward to working with Robyn next year in Kenya.  Congratulations Robyn on 30 years of service in Kenya!

The road to full-time ministry can be difficult and challenging.  It's only through the power of Jesus that we can accomplish anything.  We lean each and every day on Him for guidance, wisdom, and endurance.  We thank God for each and every one of you that we know are praying for us and encouraging us as we press on.

Blessings,

Engaging

What a great weekend!  It started off with spending time with some friends of ours on Friday night sharing our story and God's call on our life, and also getting to hear of their mission trip to India.  It is so good to spend time with people who have a passion for reaching the lost.  We were so blessed with the time we spent with them on Friday night.

Saturday we celebrated the 4th anniversary of Dana being cancer free!  We praise God for that and thank Him for the lessons He taught us through this difficult trial in our lives.

Sunday we started off our morning at church listening to the stories of several missionaries, including Christian Melendez from El Sembrador Boys School in Honduras.  This is a World Gospel Mission partner who is making a great impact on young mens lives in Honduras.  Next we had the privilege of sharing our story and mission with the Acts 29 small church class at NMC.  What an amazing time of fellowship it was.  Many of the class members have been to the Baby Centre and there was a lot of interest about how God is moving in Kenya.

We are each called by Jesus in the Great Commission to go and make disciples of all nations.  We know that everyone is not called to go to another country, but if we can serve in helping you to complete your calling by your partnering with us in some way with our ministry we would love the opportunity.

Moving Ahead...

We had a fantastic time working with Feed My Starving Children at Nappanee Missionary Church this past weekend, and a great time fellowshipping with them at our home Saturday evening.  We were able to share what God is doing at the AGC Baby Centre, and are looking at opportunities to partner with them in the future.

Things continue to move at a fast pace with us.  We have two speaking engagements this weekend and we are looking at starting some of our Bible training in the next two weeks.

Thank you to so many of you for your continued support and prayers.  We appreciate each and everyone of you.  You are a blessing to us!

Sharing Our Story

We had the privilage today of speaking in the Open Door small church at NMC.  Thank you for allowing us to share with you about the AGC Baby Centre and what God has called us to do.

We consider it an honor and a responsibility to share what God has laid on our hearts for the Kenyan people and especially the orphans.

In two weeks we will be speaking in the Acts 29 small church.

Thanks for reading!!

Pressing on!

What a wonderful start to the week, spending time at church!  Our church family means so much to us.  We enjoy the questions and opportunities to share how things are proceeding towards us leaving for the field.

We will be sharing this coming week in the Open Door small church and are looking forward to that.

We continue to get inquiries on the house, but have not had an offer yet.  We know that God has this person and will bring them to us in His time.

We are currently focusing on raising up our prayer and support team. We need to be at 50% before we can move on to our next phase of training.

Thank you everyone for all your prayers!!

Blessings!

Home For Sale!!

We have had a lot of interest, a lot of people asking, about our house.  Yes, it is up for sale.  We have had a lot of interest, lots of phones calls and a couple of showings.  We appreciate all the prayers that are being lifted up on our behalf.   We know that the Lord will send just the right person in His perfect timing.

Opportunity To Share

We are so thankful to Pastor Norm and his small church, Truth Seekers.  We were receieved very warmly and had a good time of sharing and fellowship with the group this past Sunday morning.  It's always good to be able to share our burden for the orphans of Kenya and to be able to point out other ministry opportunities in the surrounding area of the Baby Centre.

We look forward to seeing how we can not only serve the babies at the Baby Centre but also help those here by serving them and helping them to fulfill their roll in the Great Comission.

CMS and beyond...

What a fantastic time we had last week at CMS! So informative. Thankful for all the people we were blessed to meet while there, staff and missionaries. We are so excited to keep moving forward in what God has planned for us.

We just picked up our Prayer Cards from the printer today! Anxious to start handing them out to get our prayer team established.

Jesus, thank you for being ever-present in our lives. For guiding our paths and making yourself known each and every day. We love you!

Starting Place

We are here tonight at WGM Headquarters starting our training. We have been looking forward to this for months. It has been good to see old friends and to meet new ones. It already feels like an extension of our family. Good teaching today, and good discussion. We look forward to putting what we have learned to use when we return home.
